TAFE at School graduate Morgan Gourlay is on her way to her dream career in justice with a specialisation in psychology.

The now eighteen-year-old first discovered the TAFE at School program during an excursion. After an in-depth discussion with a teacher about her career aspirations, she decided to get started sooner rather than later.

“First I was shown the units I would study under Certificate IV in Crime and Justice Studies (10283NAT) and it was definitely something I was keen to explore further," said Morgan.

“I loved the idea that I was able to gain credits towards my Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) and future diploma while only studying one day a week during school” she continued.

“I was especially keen to get a taste of what higher education is all about, and what an adult learning environment would be like”.

Since graduating from her TAFE at School course Morgan has gone onto to the Diploma of Crime and Justice Studies (10284NAT), a hands-on experience she is making the most of.

“I am really enjoying studying the diploma and I especially like the fact that the course is more than just reading text books," she said.

"The course gives us many opportunities to do group work, run interviews, and go on site visits. Just the other week we got to sit in court to listen to a very high-profile case that was all over the news!”

Morgan excelled in her first course and is currently working to complete her diploma. Her goal after graduation from TAFE Queensland is to complete a university degree at QUT.
