In addition, TAFE Queensland also proactively seeks out opportunities to complete research and analysis that will inform the future direction of the sector.

Innovation and Creativity Inquiry

TAFE Queensland welcomed Senator the Honourable Simon Birmingham, Minister for Education and Training's request for the Standing Committee on Education and Employment to inquire into and report on matters that ensure Australia’s tertiary system can meet the needs of a future labour force focused on innovation and creativity.

Commonwealth Pre-Budget Submission

NPA Evaluation

As the largest and most experienced VET provider in Queensland, we play a vital role in our national and state innovation agendas.

Applied research portfolio

ARIES Case Studies 2016 features 20 examples of our educators working with employers and within communities. These case studies demonstrate collaborations between our educators, learners and employers within local communities across Queensland. It marks a starting point in naming our applied research efforts and promoting our strong partnerships with employers small and large.

Praxis 2016: Improving Education Practice Through Action Research features nine case studies from the 2015 Critical Participatory Action Research (CPAR) program. These case studies demonstrate scholarly reflective practice across a variety of themes, including blended learning, technology utilisation, workplace learning, and sustainability.

TAFE Queensland ARIES: working with business, industry and communities to solve problems and improve productivity.

HDPE (high-density polyethylene) pipelines are critical infrastructure in the coal seam gas industry. During a testing phase, a leak in a HDPE pipe was identified. The leak was found to be a result of poor welding practices. TAFE Queensland developed an enhanced training program to ensure that the risk of a leak and subsequent economic loss were minimised.

In 2010 the nursing sector was challenged by major regulatory reform relating to scope of practice and high numbers of nurse requirements. Through observing, reflecting, planning and acting, TAFE Queensland helped provide a solution.

Santos GLNG diversified into Coal Seam Gas (CSG) and the Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) sector. It urgently needed a workforce with new skills. TAFE Queensland helped develop the solution: the establishment of Australia’s first specialised CSG and gas transmission pipeline operations training centre.

Job growth is coming from small to medium sized businesses (SMEs). However Australia significantly lags other countries in bringing new ideas to market. TAFE Queensland students now work with startups to help owners on the journey from idea to business.
