TAFE Queensland XR Hubs
Hands-on learning, reimagined
TAFE Queensland is reimagining the way you learn with our Extended Reality (XR) technologies.
Our XR Hubs give students the chance to experience their course content in a practical, enjoyable and much more memorable way.
What’s an XR learning hub?
Our XR Hubs are dedicated learning spaces that blend the digital and physical worlds with augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR). Step inside realistic, interactive environments that transform learning out of the textbook and into practice.
- Augmented Reality (AR) – overlays digital elements in the real world.
- Virtual Reality (VR) – creates fully immersive environments that feel real.
- Mixed Reality (MR) – allows real and virtual elements to interact in real time.
Together, these technologies open up powerful new opportunities for students to learn by doing – safely, repeatedly, and from anywhere.

Benefits of XR training
Whether it's walking through a beating heart, practising technical skills in a virtual trade workshop, or exploring cyber security environments in real time, XR empowers students to experience education like never before.
Our XR integrations help you grasp complex concepts and theory-heavy units that are generally harder to get your head around.
With our XR Hubs, you can:
More hubs to come
TAFE Queensland will be rolling out additional XR Hubs at key campuses across the state in the coming months, with spaces at Mount Isa, Bundaberg, Cairns, Acacia Ridge, Kingaroy, Toowoomba, and beyond. We’ll also have a Mobile Renewable Energy Training Facility (MRETF), with more information to come.
The hubs will feature in projects like:
- the Regional Economic Futures Fund, which brings XR learning to regional communities
- our TAFE Centres of Excellence, where cutting-edge learning is integrated across disciplines.
TAFE Queensland is leading the charge in shaping the future of training and workforce development, thanks to five major projects funded by the Queensland Government’s $13 million Regional Economic Futures Fund (REFF).
