    Unit description :
    This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to trim and cut felled trees with a chainsaw, and complete operator maintenance. For the purpose of this unit of competency, a felled tree is any tree or part thereof, including, but not limited to, a tree trunk, branch or limb that has fallen or has been felled and is laying on the ground in a bushland, plantation, forested or other setting, including parkland, roadways and urban areas.

Entry requirements

Selection criteria

It is recommended that you have completed Year 10 or are 16 years of age or above, and that you have had experience operating a chainsaw and can safely operate equipment on sloping or uneven ground.

Please note that enrolments close five days prior to the course date.

Resources required

You are responsible for meeting the minimum occupational health and safety requirements in practical classes.

This includes having access to and wearing:

  • appropriate attire including long sleeved shirts and trousers
  • safety footwear compliant with the Australian Standard AS 2210
  • safety glasses
  • gloves

Chaps and a safety helmet will be supplied by TAFE Queensland for you to use during class.
