Course overview

This course is designed for licensed electricians who want to become accredited designers and installers of grid-connected battery storage systems.

You'll develop the expertise to assess client needs, budgets, and site conditions to recommend optimal battery storage solutions.

Your training will cover photovoltaic systems, battery storage, energy management strategies, and hazard identification that meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Guided by expert educators, you'll receive hands-on training in industry-relevant facilities, equipping you with the skills to pursue a career as an electrical supervisor or grid-connected battery storage system designer and installer.

This skill set is fully funded for Queensland residents by the TAFE Centre of Excellence Clean Energy Batteries.

Entry requirements

Prior to enrolment you must supply evidence that you have met the following pre-requisite requirements:

  • UEERE0061 Design grid-connected photovoltaic power supply systems
    and
  • UEEL0039 Design, install and verify compliance and functionality of general electrical installations
    or
  • Hold a current Unrestricted Electrical Licence with the Electrical Safety Office

Evidence of prior completion can be in the form of a statement of attainment, a record of results, or an authenticated USI VET Transcript listing the prerequisite units.

Resources required

You are responsible for meeting the minimum occupational health and safety requirements in practical classes.
This includes the use of:

  • protective footwear with safety toe cap and non-slip soles to AS2210
  • You should also wear 100% cotton drill industry-standard clothing.

If you fail to meet these minimum standards of dress, you will not be permitted entry into practical classes.

You are also required to bring personal stationery.
