Course overview

If you are interested in mastering Microsoft Excel for your job, at TAFE Queensland we have the course for you! Microsoft Office Excel: Advanced​ is designed to help you become highly skilled in Microsoft Excel 2016 at a professional level.

The instructor will demonstrate the exercises and then you will practise these new skills. The instructor will be available the whole time for support and assistance. Furthermore, you will be provided with a comprehensive manual to take home for future reference.

Topics covered include:

  • building your Pivot table
  • providing 'real time' mass data analysis
  • creating Pivot table charts
  • applying VLOOKUP function
  • applying IF and nested IF statements
  • transposing data and conditional formatting using icons
  • using Goal Seek
  • working with TIME values in calculations and functions
  • creating Macros
  • adding Macros to VBS
  • advanced charting techniques.

This short course is non-accredited therefore is not registered with the National Training Register.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Selection criteria

Attendees must have a solid working knowledge of Microsoft Excel. Also, be highly competent using a personal computer and be familiar with the Windows operating system, especially working with files and folders.

Resources Required
  • Please bring a pen and paper for note taking, and a USB.
  • Students need to present their Confirmation of Enrolment to the car park attendant each week to be eligible for discounted parking.
