Course overview

This accredited skill set is an ideal introduction to emergency and first aid response in the animal care field. It's suitable for pet owners wishing to extend their knowledge to care for their own animals, as well as those working and volunteering in the animal care industry such as animal attendants, pet groomers, dog walkers, and foster carers.

Throughout this course you'll learn how to provide first aid to animals including how to recognise if the situation is an emergency, assess options for assistance, safely approach and protect animals, assess their physical condition and vital signs, identify the animal and hazards, and take action to minimise immediate risks to self, other people, the injured animal and other animals.

Successful completion of this skill set will equip you with the skills you need to provide an initial response for animals in situations where first aid is required.
