Course overview

The Design Atelier is a Makerspace where you can meet and gather with other creatives to work on your projects and share your ideas and interests in a community environment. Participation is open to graduates of TAFE fashion courses including the Advanced Diploma and Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising or Bachelor of Fashion TAFE Queensland – University of Canberra.

Give your label a head start by enrolling to use this purpose built space with access to amazing workshop equipment and quality resources including straight sewers, overlockers, stretch machinery, industrial iron, leather walking foot machine, dress stands, patternmaking tables, digitising board, lockers, wet areas and access to the trend forecasting site WGSN and Connect access with how to videos for using the laser cutter.

Please be quick as this opportunity is only open to a maximum of 10 people per term.

Entry requirements

Selection criteria

(Alumni) Graduates of TAFE fashion courses including the Advanced Diploma and Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising or Bachelor of Fashion TAFE Queensland – University of Canberra.

Important information

This is a space where Alumni can gather and work in a space with High End machines on their own projects experience other creatives and share and build skills together.

Designer Atelier space is available for students between 8am and 8pm Monday to Friday. Students will work independently and be visited at varied times between these hours.

There is no face to face teaching included.

There will be How to videos to list and show instructions on how to use some machines.

Basic Threads (White and Black) will be supplied.

For a small fee pattern paper can be provided.
