Selection criteria

To enrol into this skill set you must:

  • have a trade background with prior engineering/manufacturing experience and have access to a functioning engineering workplace with CNC equipment (lathes and mills) for structured on the job training
  • have prior engineering experience with CAD/CAM
  • provide evidence of completion of the following pre-requisite units prior to enrolling into this skill set : 
    • MEM07005 OR  MEM07028  
    • MEM09002 
    • MEM11011 
    • MEM12023 
    • MEM12024 
    • MEM13015 
    • MEM14006 
    • MEM16006 
    • MEM18001 

Resources required

It is recommended that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat Reader. This equipment and software is available for use at all TAFE Queensland locations.

You are also required to bring a personal stationary, a calculator and it is recommended that you have a USB.

You are responsible for meeting the minimum occupational health and safety requirements in practical classes.
This includes the use of:

  • safety glasses
  • protective footwear with safety toe cap and non-slip soles to AS2210
  • hair protection
  • You should also wear 100% cotton drill industry-standard clothing
  • ear protection - ear muffs or ear plugs

If you fail to meet these minimum standards of dress, you will not be permitted entry into practical classes.
