Course overview

This course supports secondary school teachers to understand Vocational Education and Training (VET) and how it differs from curriculum-based teaching and assessment. You will explore the VET context, competency-based training and assessment, how to read and apply Training Packages, and the role and expectations of VET trainers and assessors.

Through a balance of theory and practical activities, you will build confidence to deliver or support school-based VET programs, develop sound assessment judgement, and understand compliance expectations.

This course is suitable for teachers currently delivering VET, schools considering VET delivery, and supply teachers seeking professional development relevant to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (APST). Participation may contribute towards Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements for maintaining Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration.
