Course overview

This course includes set up, conversion, payroll, advanced procedures and day-to-day operations and is suitable for anyone requiring working knowledge of Xero operations. It gives you confidence that you have the skills to operate Xero within your business structure or to gain employment as an accounts clerk using Xero Accounting and Payroll. You will need prior knowledge of basic accounting terminology before enrolling in this course. This is an interactive course where questions are welcome.

Navigating Xero Accounting
Bank feeds and reconciliations
Cash coding
Set up a Xero company file
Conversion dates and importing balances
Setting up and importing chart of accounts
Setting up customer and supplier cards
Setting up inventory and tracking
Import a bank statement
Perform a bank reconciliation
Code payments through spend money
Code and allocate cash receipts
Create quotes, orders and invoices
Process and issue credit notes
Record customer payments
Deal with bad debts

Selection criteria

It is highly recommended that you have:-

an understanding of account keeping for business and a basic understanding of bookkeeping terms; and
sound computer literacy skills, including the ability to follow the teacher’s instructions navigating the computer

Classroom delivery

You will need a web based email account eg. Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail etc.

If you are driving, BEFORE you arrive, please download the EasyPark App, set up your account and in the Search bar at top of the screen, type ‘Tafe’ and select the appropriate parking area to set as your location – something similar to this will appear- Care Park Australia street parking, private, 1 day duration.
We highly recommend you download the app and enter the details prior to arriving as there may be no signal in the basement. If you have any issues reach out to security on campus located on the ground floor near the lifts.
Parking can be accessed via Paddington Place. ONLY park in the spaces marked with the Red TAFE Queensland logo on the ground on either B1 or B2 to avoid being fined by Easy Park.
Please be aware that parking spaces can fill early.

Please note: The Seedpod Cafe on site at our Robina Campus is not open for business on the weekend or in the evenings so you are advised to bring your own refreshments.
The Green Fields restaurant & bar on site at our Robina Campus is open from 4pm-9pm most days of the week. Green Fields information.

Online Virtual Classroom
You will need:

a personal computer or laptop to participate actively in this course. The computer must have speakers, a microphone and internet access (webcam optional).
a quiet and ergonomically correct work area to participate actively in this course with no or little distractions.
a web based email account e.g. Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail etc.
a pen and paper for taking notes.
You will receive by email a Zoom meeting link in the days leading up to the first lesson. This won’t be provided on enrolment.
You do not need a Zoom app or licence to attend the lessons, you can join using the URL (web link) the teacher provides if you prefer.

Online Virtual Classroom: structure of attendance: 2hrs 30 mins of learning / 30 minute break / 2 hrs of learning.

Course commencement is subject to minimum enrolment numbers.

For privacy reasons - Online lessons are not to be recorded or photographed by attendees and sessions are not to be shared on any other platform.
