Establish your career in makeup with this specialised qualification in screen and media at Huxley School of Makeup in partnership with TAFE Queensland. You will learn the advanced skills needed to thrive as a specialist makeup artist.

According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, the number of people working as make up artists grew very strongly over the past five years. This occupation is expected to see stable growth in the future with opportunities available in a range of industries including film, television, photography, fashion, and retail cosmetics.  

In this specialised course you'll learn essential makeup techniques and industry-standard skills. Throughout your training you'll cover everything from core makeup disciplines through to advanced fashion, cinema and special effects makeup techniques.

On the completion of the course you'll graduate with an incredible portfolio of work from shooting over 20 times with a fashion photographer, plus a beautiful video portfolio. The Huxley School of Makeup also offers students incredible work experience opportunities such as fashion shows, films, TV series and more.

Successfully completing this qualification will ensure you're job ready in the fields of film, TV and fashion including photographic, bridal and cosmetics industries.

Entry into this program will include an interview at Huxley School of Make Up. Students must bring the following to the interview:

  • Identification (passport or drivers licence)
  • Year 12 Certificate or Certificate IV or above qualification (if applicable)
  • Any previous examples of your make up work where applicable

There will be 4 - 6 lessons per week

Classes are from Monday to Thursday and classes are held at the Huxley School of Make Up -  4/87 West Burleigh Road BURLEIGH HEADS.

You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
