Course overview

Enhance your career prospects with this double diploma in business and international business. Demand for skilled workers in business and management is set to increase by more than 50,000 jobs within the next five years. This course will give you the high-level skills required to launch your business career in Australia or overseas.

Throughout this course you'll gain broad ranging business skills including communicating with influence, project work, workforce planning management, and managing risk. You'll also develop managerial skills to ensure that international business activities are conducted effectively in any organisation and learn how to lead teams in conducting international business activities.

Successful completion of this double qualification will provide you with wide ranging business skills to establish your career as an administration manager or executive officer. You will also be well prepared to pursue further studies in this field.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Selection criteria

Domestic students

Whilst there are no formal entry requirements for this course. TAFE Queensland has the following selection criteria.

It is recommended that you have completed a Certificate IV in Business, or another relevant qualification, and/or that you have experience in a range of business work environments prior to undertaking this course. Although assessment can be based on simulation, you would benefit from having some involvement in, or access to, a business environment. Study will involve a range of reading comprehension activities, report writing, and conducting and analysing research. At this level your written communication needs to be of a professional standard in presentation, structure, grammar, spelling and punctuation. 

It is also recommended that students posses basic computer literacy skills and are able to demonstrate a range of study skills, self-motivation and reasonable independence.

International students

The following Selection criteria requirements apply only to International Students:

  • English Language Proficiency: Academic IELTS 5.5 (no individual band less than 5.0) or ISLPR 2+ on all skills or other - For a list of all English Language test accepted by TAFE Queensland International
  • Academic Requirements: Completion of Year 12 (or equivalent). Non school-leavers must have relevant work experience or qualification that indicates likely success of course completion. For more information on the international education achievement levels equivalent to Year 10 and 12.

Resources required

It is recommended that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for use at all TAFE Queensland locations.

You will be provided with a recommended reading list and/or required textbooks during orientation or at the start of each unit. The purchase of these resources may incur additional costs, or you may be able to borrow them from the TAFE Queensland library network.

You are also required to have access to a calculator, a laptop or tablet device, a USB, paper and a pen for notes.

Assessment Methods

Skill and knowledge assessments are an essential step in progressing through your course. You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
