Greenslopes Private Hospital Partnership

The course is delivered with theoretical study and practical on-campus learning at Greenslopes Private Hospital, enabling you to put what you've learnt in the classroom into practice in one of Australia's largest private teaching hospitals. You'll graduate with confidence and familiarity within the healthcare sector, ready to transition seamlessly into full-time employment. 

The course takes just 18 months to complete, is delivered full time, and offers two intakes per year in January and July. You'll combine both on-campus and online learning, starting with theoretical classes at Greenslopes Private Hospital 2 days a week for approximately the first 17 weeks. After this, classes will reduce to 1 day a week and you'll combine this with self-directed online learning activities.

As part of your studies, you will undertake vocational placement at Greenslopes Private Hospital. You will attend placement two days per week and can expect to complete a balanced mix of early shifts (0700-1530 hrs) and late shifts (1430-2300 hrs). By the end of the course, you will have completed approximately 440 hours of clinical placement.

Throughout your studies, you'll complete a minimum of four rotations across the hospital, providing a variety of ward and specialty-based experiences, including orthopaedics, urology, general surgery, general medicine, rehabilitation, mental health, coronary care, oncology, neurology, gynaecology and perioperative services. You'll be taught by industry-experienced teachers who are practising professionals with current knowledge and experience in the healthcare sector.

As part of the course requirements, students must purchase a uniform to wear while attending classes at Greenslopes Private Hospital. The uniform package costs approximately $80 and includes one scrub top and one pair of scrub pants.

Upon graduation you'll need to apply for registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) as an Enrolled Nurse Division 2. As you'll graduate with extensive knowledge and experience of the hospital and its policies and procedures, students are encouraged to apply for a position within the Graduate Program offered at Greenslopes Private Hospital (however employment is not guaranteed).
