Greenslopes Partnerships Program

Greenslopes Private Hospital and TAFE Queensland have partnered to deliver an integrated and innovative nursing course. Through this partnership you can study the Diploma of Nursing (HLT54121) at Greenslopes Private Hospital in Brisbane and put what you learn in the classroom into practice in this world-class teaching hospital.

How it works

The course is delivered with theoretical study and practical on-campus learning at Greenslopes Private Hospital, enabling you to put what you've learnt in the classroom into practice in one of Australia's largest private teaching hospitals. You'll graduate with confidence and familiarity within the healthcare sector, ready to transition seamlessly into full-time employment.

The course takes just 18 months to complete, is offered via a full-time study load, and offers two intakes per year in January and July. You'll combine both on-campus and online learning, starting with theoretical classes at Greenslopes Private Hospital two days a week for approximately the first 17 weeks. After this, classes will reduce to one day a week and you'll combine this with self-directed online learning activities.

As part of your studies you'll be required to complete vocational placement at Greenslopes Private Hospital. You'll attend two days of on-the-job placement per week which will be on either early shift (0700 – 1530hrs) or late shift (1430 – 2300hrs). That means you'll graduate with approximately 440 hours of placement under your belt.

Throughout your studies you'll complete a minimum of four rotations throughout the hospital allowing a variety of ward and speciality-based experiences such as orthopaedics, urology, general surgical, general medical, rehabilitation, mental health, coronary care, oncology, neurology, gynaecology and perioperative. You'll be taught by teachers who are practising professionals that have current knowledge and experience within the industry.

For the most up to date course fees, please visit our course information page. You'll also be required to purchase uniforms that you'll need to wear while on campus at Greenslopes Private Hospital. The approximate price for these uniforms is $140 which includes two polo shirts and two scrub bottoms.

Upon graduation you'll need to apply for registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) as an Enrolled Nurse Division 2. As you'll graduate with extensive knowledge and experience of the hospital and its policies and procedures, students are encouraged to apply for a position within the Graduate Program offered at Greenslopes Private Hospital (however employment is not guaranteed).
