The printing industry is one of the largest manufacturing industries in Australia. Worth over $23 billion and employing more than 115,000 people, there are a range of different career opportunities available within the printing industry including pre-press technician, print machinist, and screen printer.
Desktop publishers or pre-press technicians set and compose text and graphics into a suitable format for printing. Print machinists set up and operate a range of different printing presses including letterpress, lithographic, flexographic, gravure, digital, and offset. Screen printers prepare stencils and set up and operate screen print equipment.
If signs and graphics are more your passion, at TAFE Queensland you can learn practical industry skills to design, manufacture, paint, print, wrap and install signs for displays, buildings, billboards, boats, cars and structures.
