Darling Downs and South West Region - Career Tasters
The Career Taster Pilot is designed for Queensland Year 10 students across the Darling Downs and South West region who are starting to think about what life might look like after school.
Get a taste for a future career while you’re still at school.
Delivered at TAFE Queensland campuses across the region, Career Tasters give Year 10 students the chance to test drive different career areas, try real hands‑on skills, and explore local industries — all without committing to a specific study or career pathway.
Career Tasters are a practical way to discover what you enjoy, build confidence, and learn about the training and job opportunities available in your community.

Locations and available programs
Career Taster Vehicle Trades: Explore light and heavy vehicles, hybrid and electric vehicles, and vehicle engineering.
Term 4: From 2 November until 12 November (8 day block) | Time: 8am to 3.45pm
Day: Monday - Thursday
Career Taster Engineering and Electrical: Try practical skills in welding, metal fabrication, autonomous technology and fluid power.
Term 4: From 2 November until 12 November (8 day block) | Time: 8am - 3:45pm
Day: Monday - Thursday
Career Taster Hospitality and Tourism: Build skills in cookery, baking, hospitality and front of house, travel, and event management.
Term 4: From 19 October until 8 December (Please note, weeks 9 and 10 delivery will be 2 days per week, Monday and Tuesday) | Time: 9am - 3pm
Day: Monday (Monday and Tuesday for weeks 9 and 10)
Career Taster Personal Services: Learn creative skills in hairdressing and barbering, beauty, make‑up and nails, massage, and fitness.
Term 4: From 22 October until 10 December | Time: 8:30am – 4:15pm
