Darling Downs and South West Region - Career Tasters
The Career Taster Pilot is designed for Queensland Year 10 students across the Darling Downs and South West region who are starting to think about what life might look like after school.
Get a taste for a future career while you’re still at school.
Delivered at TAFE Queensland campuses across the region, Career Tasters give Year 10 students the chance to test drive different career areas, try real hands‑on skills, and explore local industries — all without committing to a specific study or career pathway.
Career Tasters are a practical way to discover what you enjoy, build confidence, and learn about the training and job opportunities available in your community.
Start dates and delivery days are listed with the Career Tasters available at each campus location.

Career Taster Vehicle Trades: Explore light and heavy vehicles, hybrid and electric vehicles, and vehicle engineering.
Term 4: From 14 October until 2 December | Time: 8am to 3.45pm

Career Taster Engineering and Electrical: Try practical skills in welding, metal fabrication, autonomous technology and fluid power.

Career Taster Hospitality and Tourism: Build skills in cookery, baking, hospitality and front of house, travel, and event management.

Career Taster Personal Services: Learn creative skills in hairdressing and barbering, beauty, make‑up and nails, massage, and fitness.

Career Taster Agriculture, Animals, Plants: Explore careers working with animals and plants, small and domestic animal care, large animal care and maintenance, science careers, horticulture, landscaping and land care.
