The Career Taster Pilot Program is designed for Queensland Year 10 students across the Gold Coast region who are starting to think about what life might look like after school.

Get a taste for a future career while you’re still at school.
Delivered at TAFE Queensland campuses across the region, our Career Taster program gives Year 10 students the chance to test drive different career areas, try real hands‑on skills, and explore local industries — all without committing to a specific study or career pathway.
Career Tasters are a practical way to discover what you enjoy, build confidence, and learn about the training and job opportunities available in your community.
Start dates and delivery days are listed with the Career Taster programs available at each campus location.

Career Taster Vehicle Trades: Explore light and heavy vehicles, vehicle electrical, and vehicle engineering.

Career Taster Construction Trades: Get hands‑on experience in carpentry, cabinet making / shop fitting, plumbing and landscaping.
Date: From 20-24 April to 22-26 June, 2026 | Time: 9am to 3pm

Career Taster Agriculture, Animals, Plants: Explore care for domestic animals, care and rehabilitation of native wildlife, animal anatomy and physiology and applied science.
