Boost your studies with Australian Standards

Whatever field you're in, make sure you're up to code with Australian Standards, which are available for free for all TAFE Queensland students.
What are Australian Standards?
Australian Standards are documents that provide guidance for workplace safety, product development, quality management, and best practice for companies and employees. They ensure our products and systems are safe for us in the workplace and in our daily lives.
If you're studying or working in the following fields, then Australian Standards will be useful for you:
- Trades
- Infrastructure
- Agriculture
- Disability services
- Hospitality and cookery
- Beauty services
- Health and science
- Fashion
- Education
- IT
- Project management
- Work health and safety
Standards can advise you or your business on broad topics. For example the general conditions for organisational quality management and your products or services (AS/NZS ISO 9001:2016), or the design requirements of your workspace to allow mobility access for people with disabilities (AS 1428.2-1992).
Standards can also cover more specific topics, such as the textile care labels that must appear on the clothes your business makes (AS/NZS 1957:1998).
How do I access Australian Standards?
Australian Standards are available for free for all TAFE Queensland students.
Start by finding the Australian Standards Online / Techstreet Enterprise database on the TAFE Queensland library website.
Then log in using your studentnumber@tqstudent.edu.au as the username, and your Connect/network password.
Select TAFE Queensland from the values list.
You now have access to the Australian Standards! From here, simply search for a Standard by name or subject. You can bookmark a Standard for easy future access, download it as a PDF document to your device, or even print your own copy.
