TAFE Queensland Scholarship Foundation celebrates 10 years of changing lives
Since its inception in 2015, the TAFE Queensland Scholarship Program has awarded over $3.4 million, assisting more than 720 Queenslanders in achieving their career goals.
The 2025 scholarship cohort includes students pursuing a diverse range of courses, from nursing and youth work to various trade apprenticeships.
At TAFE Queensland, we are dedicated to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students, with a particular focus on our First Nations communities and this cohort reflects that with almost 20 per cent identifying as First Nations peoples.
A record number of scholarship applications were received, highlighting student demand for financial support to offset the current cost of living challenges facing all Queenslanders.
Recipients of the scholarship are awarded $5,000 to pursue any course and qualification level, ranging from Certificate III to bachelor’s degrees, at any of TAFE Queensland's 50 campus locations or through online study.
Three types of scholarships are offered to students, including Merit Scholarships that support individuals who have demonstrated strong levels of achievement to advance their careers; Access and Equity Scholarships that assist those students facing social disadvantage or financial hardship; and Athlete Merit Scholarships for those students pursuing athletic careers.
Scholarships are made possible thanks to the generous support of our sponsors and donors, including the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, the Australian Refrigeration Council, Samford Community Bank Bendigo Bank, CleanCo, CPL Mylestones, Exemplar Health, Fujitsu, QLD Hydro, MEGT, Microsoft, Orro, RACQ, and Technology One.
Additionally, TAFE Queensland's funding initiatives and events, such as the Workplace Giving Program, Containers for Change program and ICT vs QLD Government trivia event, contribute to the scholarship funds each year.
“Scholarships can be life-changing for students, providing them with the financial support and encouragement they need to build a better future for themselves and those around them,” TAFE Queensland Chief Executive Officer John Tucker said.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support from all of our sponsors and supporters who generously donate each year to the TAFE Queensland Scholarship Foundation that funds our scholarships program.”
“We know the power of training and skills and with our sponsors' support, we are helping our students to change their lives and achieve their career aspirations.”
