Learning through life’s biggest changes
For Richa Bhatia graduating from TAFE Queensland in 2025 after completing a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) marked more than the completion of a qualification — it represented perseverance, growth and a defining life chapter.
Before enrolling at TAFE Queensland, Richa was already working in education and had a strong passion for teaching. However, she recognised the need to build her skills, confidence and understanding of Australia’s vocational education system to progress professionally.
“I wanted to refine my skills, understand the system properly, and truly become a capable and confident trainer,” explained Richa.
With over a decade of teaching experience across India and Australia, Richa brings both passion and practical insight into her work as an educator.
Richa enrolled in the Training and Assessment (TAE40122) qualification not knowing the year ahead would become one of the busiest — and most transformative — of her life.
Alongside her studies, she was navigating teacher registration processes, attending interviews and preparing for a major personal milestone.
“Behind the scenes, there was a lot happening. I was navigating my teacher registration process, preparing documents, attending interviews… and at the same time preparing for a brand-new chapter — becoming a mother,” she shared.
Balancing pregnancy with study commitments was challenging, as Richa juggled assessments, deadlines and personal preparations.
“There were days when my to‑do list felt never‑ending — assignments due, assessments to submit, nursery planning, baby shower preparations… and let’s just say pregnancy fatigue does not negotiate with deadlines,” she said.
Richa credits the support of her teachers at TAFE Queensland as a key factor in her success.
“Their guidance, flexibility and encouragement meant everything,” she said.
“At TAFE, I felt supported as a person first, and a student second.”
Throughout the course, each completed assessment became a reminder of her resilience and determination.
“Every assignment submitted on time felt like a small victory. Every completed assessment reminded me that I was stronger than I thought,” Richa said.
While the course provided her with valuable technical skills in training design and assessment practices, Richa says the personal growth she experienced was just as important.
“This course strengthened me professionally, but it also strengthened me personally,” she said.
She believes education is not just about delivering knowledge, but about building confidence, resilience and creating meaningful opportunities for every learner.
Reflecting on her journey, Richa believes TAFE Queensland showed her that progress is possible even during life’s biggest transitions.
“Progress doesn’t require perfect timing — it requires consistent effort,” she said.
As she looks ahead to the next chapter of her career and motherhood, Richa says her graduation represents more than a qualification.
“Today is not just about receiving a certificate. It’s about celebrating growth, resilience, and new beginnings,” she said.
Now, Richa is stepping into a new chapter, balancing motherhood with her passion for education, and is excited to continue empowering learners while growing as a confident and capable educator in Queensland.
For Richa, completing the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) is the beginning of a journey filled with purpose, passion and endless possibilities.
