Q Academy partnership delivers new sports massage diploma
TAFE Queensland has announced a new partnership with Q Academy, expanding access to flexible, industry-aligned training for aspiring health and sports professionals.
Delivered by the highly regarded Q Academy on behalf of TAFE Queensland’s Academy of Sport, the partnership will deliver the Diploma of Remedial Massage (HLT52021), advanced rehab and sports stream.
This nationally accredited qualification is designed to equip students with the practical skills and knowledge needed to thrive in Australia’s growing sports, health and wellness sector.
The new program responds to increasing demand for qualified remedial massage therapists, particularly as Australia prepares to host major international sporting events, including the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
By partnering with Q Academy, students will benefit from its industry-renowned, expert-led training, flexible study options, and hands-on clinical experience, ensuring they graduate job-ready and confident to enter a range of professional environments.
TAFE Queensland Manager, Academy of Sport Partnerships, Don Harley, said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to delivering high-quality, accessible training aligned to industry needs.
“This partnership with Q Academy allows us to expand our Academy of Sport training offerings into a high-demand field while maintaining the quality and rigour students expect from TAFE Queensland,” Mr Harley said.
“By combining TAFE Queensland’s reputation in vocational education with Q Academy’s specialist expertise in remedial and massage therapies, we’re providing students with a clear pathway into rewarding careers in sports and health.”
Graduates will be prepared to work across a variety of settings, including multidisciplinary health clinics, rehabilitation programs, and professional sporting environments.
Career opportunities include roles supporting physiotherapists, chiropractors and osteopaths, as well as working with community and elite sports teams across codes such as Australian football rules, rugby league, cricket, soccer and Olympic and Paralympic sports.
Robert Voges, Chief Executive Officer, Q Academy, said the partnership would expand training to more students while enhancing outcomes through flexible, practical training delivery.
“Our delivery model is designed to fit around students’ lifestyles, with options including online and e-classroom study, supported by hands-on clinical experience,” Mr Voges said.
“We’re proud to deliver this qualification on behalf of TAFE Queensland and support Academy of Sport students to turn their passion into meaningful careers.”
The course can be completed in 12 to 18 months and includes both online and e-classroom study options, with monthly intakes available.
Students will also complete supervised clinical hours through Q Academy student clinics, providing real-world experience treating members of the public.
