Rapid automotive air conditioning training

For experienced professionals across the light and heavy automotive industries, TAFE Queensland offers a fast‑tracked delivery of the Certificate II in Automotive Air Conditioning Technology (AUR20220) providing the specialist skills required to apply for an Automotive Air Conditioning Licence.

Designed with industry experience in mind, TAFE Queensland’s Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer options mean eligible participants only complete units specific to automotive air‑conditioning. The result is a streamlined delivery model completed in as little as three to five days, making it an efficient way to upskill without stepping away from work for extended periods.

Additional qualifications can provide a competitive edge at any career stage — supporting technicians to expand their scope of work and helping businesses boost capability, productivity and flexibility on the job.

Jace Willocks, Faculty Director – Manufacturing at TAFE Queensland’s South West region, said ongoing skills development is critical in a rapidly evolving automotive sector.

“An apprenticeship gives technicians a strong foundation, but learning doesn’t stop there,” Mr Willocks said.

“As vehicle technology continues to advance, expanding your skill set is one of the most effective ways to stay relevant and progress your career.”

He said fast‑tracked, targeted training allows experienced workers to gain in‑demand capabilities without unnecessary repetition.

“This qualification is about recognising the expertise people already have and building on it,” he said.

“The automotive air conditioning course is a practical, efficient pathway for experienced technicians who want to broaden their licensing and take on more specialised work.”

TAFE Queensland also continues to support the transition to future vehicle technologies, with a range of short courses and skill sets aligned to industry needs.

“For technicians and businesses looking ahead, gaining additional, future‑focused skills now is a smart investment,” Mr Willocks said.

“TAFE Queensland’s training is designed to support both individual career growth and the long‑term capability of the automotive industry.”

Offered across the state, the Battery Electric Vehicle Inspection and Servicing Skill Set (AURSS00064) is also available to eligible qualified mechanics.

The skill set provides essential knowledge for working safely on electric vehicles — a growing priority as Queensland progresses toward its zero‑emissions transport goals.
