TAFE Queensland Scholarship Foundation celebrates students and supporters at networking breakfast
The TAFE Queensland Scholarship Foundation recently hosted a networking breakfast at its South Bank campus, bringing together scholarship recipients, sponsors, donors and distinguished guests to celebrate educational achievement and the power of community support.
Now in its 11th year, the TAFE Queensland Scholarship Program has awarded more than $3.8 million in scholarships to over 800 Queenslanders since its inception in 2015, supporting students from diverse backgrounds to pursue their training and career goals.
Held on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, the event was attended by Mrs Rebecca Young, Assistant Minister to the Deputy Premier and Assistant Minister for Planning, Housing and Better Regulation. Mrs Young acknowledged the outstanding achievements of the 2026 scholarship recipients and highlighted the importance of continued investment in vocational education and training.
The Assistant Minister was joined by TAFE Queensland Scholarship Foundation Board members Jane Seawright and Mary Campbell, along with members of the TAFE Queensland Executive, underscoring the strong leadership and commitment behind the program.
The breakfast celebrated students undertaking a wide range of study areas, including carpentry, air conditioning and refrigeration, visual arts and project management, showcasing the breadth of opportunities supported through the scholarship program.
A highlight of the morning was a heartfelt address from Timothy Poole, a Certificate III in Carpentry (CPC30220) apprentice, who shared the meaningful impact his scholarship has had on his studies and career pathway. Representatives from Timothy’s employer, Natural Lifestyle Homes, were also in attendance to recognise and celebrate his achievements.
Throughout the event, the Foundation acknowledged the generous contributions of its sponsors and donors, whose ongoing support makes scholarships possible for students experiencing financial hardship, social disadvantage or systemic barriers to education.
The Foundation also recognised the dedication of staff involved in the Workplace Giving Program, whose efforts continue to raise essential funds for students in need and reinforce the organisation’s commitment to inclusive and equitable education.
The TAFE Queensland Scholarship Foundation looks forward to hosting future networking events across the state, continuing to connect students, supporters and partners in celebration of opportunity and success.
