“The best decision” this beauty therapist has made

“I’ve always loved beauty. I’ve always had a big passion for it,” said Charlize.

“I ended up falling into a really good position. I run the Saturdays on my own most of the time, and during the week I’m more in a therapist position.”

Despite already working in the industry, Charlize’s dedication to professional development motivated her to build on her experience and deepen her specialised beauty knowledge. This led her to enrol in a Diploma of Beauty Therapy (SHB50121) at TAFE Queensland.

“I wanted to learn hands-on with teachers, and it’s been great  - the best decision I’ve made was coming here and doing it full-time,” she said.

With access to a fully equipped beauty salon and guidance from industry-experienced teachers, this hands-on learning approach has helped Charlize build confidence and enhance her skillset.

“The teachers are just so full of knowledge, it’s amazing,” explained Charlize.

 “I’ve been able to see that there’s not just one way to do a treatment, or one way to succeed in doing it.”

Charlize has been able to apply what she learns in class directly in the workplace, reinforcing her new and refined skills.

“I definitely work at a better standard. I make better connections with people now that I have a lot more knowledge and background,” she said.

Motivated to continue her growth and expertise, Charlize is focused on putting her learning into practice and delivering high-quality services in the industry.

“I like making everyone happy. I like making people feel good, that’s why I love the trade. You really get to know some amazing people.”

It’s this passion, determination and purpose that drives Charlize to build a career helping people feel confident in their own skin.
