Academy of Sport at TAFE Queensland
TAFE Queensland offers a range of courses that can help you pursue a sporting career. In partnership with peak sporting organisations and clubs across Queensland, students have the opportunity to gain practical skills, industry knowledge, and hands-on experience to purse a career in the sports industry. This immersive learning experience is for passionate sporting enthusiasts looking to build a career as a sports industry professional.
The majority of delivery occurs on location with TAFE Queensland’s Academy of Sport industry partner, providing access to specialised facilities, industry experts and a combination of theory and hands-on practical learning.
Embedded in industry practice, students will experience what it’s like to work in a sporting environment with the right tools to pursue success. Providing access to specialised facilities, industry experts and a combination of theory and hands-on practical learning, programs are currently offered in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Ipswich and Logan.

For high school students commencing year 10 or 11, the focus is on practical learning in a sporting context. Students can expect to learn in an active and engaging environment undertaking the Certificate II in Sport Coaching and Certificate III in Sport Coaching (SIS20321/SIS30521) whilst still at school. Successful completion can contribute to the students Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) with a special focus on their chosen sport.
The Diploma of Sport and Diploma of Leadership and Management (SIS50321/BSB50420) is delivered in partnership with the Brisbane Broncos and the Gold Coast Suns. These unique programs present a wide range of opportunities for students who aspire to a career in sports, building the skills and knowledge needed to manage people, relationships, networks and teams in sport, and become a better leader.
The Diploma of Sport (SIS50321) is delivered in partnership with Queensland Rugby, Basketball Queensland and Football Queensland. Each specialised program delivers code specific and industry relevant content at the clubs’ headquarters. Integrated learning will expose you to the inner working of the clubs and with TAFE Queensland's highly-experienced team of industry leaders you’ll receive the guidance you need to succeed in your studies and beyond.
