Think your only options after school are to start working or go to uni? Think again. Another great option you might not have considered is a diploma. Diploma qualifications give you the practical skills you need to enter the workforce. Plus, with most diplomas taking around 12 months to complete, they’re a great way to try out a career path and start earning faster.
It’s uni, but not as you know it
Universities aren’t the only place you can get a degree. TAFE Queensland has partnered with some of Australia’s leading universities to offer a range of degrees that focus on combining theoretical knowledge with our signature hands-on learning style. Do what you love and focus on what comes next with a practical degree taught in purpose-built facilities.

Why choose between TAFE or uni when you could have the best of both worlds? Because a diploma will generally give you a year’s credit towards a degree in the same study area, you could do a diploma now and decide to continue your studies at uni later on. We also have a range of other university pathways than can help you meet university entry requirements and get you into your dream degree.

If you prefer to learn by doing, then an apprenticeship or traineeship could be the perfect way to turn your passion into a career. You’ll combine working for an employer with hands-on training at TAFE Queensland, meaning you'll be earning while you're learning. You will graduate with a nationally-recognised qualification and the skills you need to advance your career or start your own business.

This course is at the cutting edge. I honestly think it’s going to be one of the most famous courses for dental prosthetics across Australia and the world in the next five to 10 years. We’re seeing students who are and want to come from around the world because of how progressive the course is and how innovative the technologies are that we’re using.
The best thing about my job is seeing the students flourish. They come in and suddenly realise it's a different experience to school, but you see them grow and I love watching them on that journey – not just learning academically, but probably even more so developing as human beings.
