Back to Work is a state government initiative designed to give businesses the confidence to employ regional jobseekers. Employer Support and Youth Boost payments are available to employers who meet all the program eligibility criteria.

If you employ an apprentice or trainee under the age of 25 in one of 139 high priority qualifications, the training fees associated with their study will be covered by the Queensland Government (conditions apply).

The Australian Government provides a number of incentives to assist employers who take on an Australian apprentice. Incentives payments are made when apprentices commence, recommence, and complete their training.

TSAGT aims to assess the skills of experienced individuals who can demonstrate substantial competency in a priority trade qualification. The Queensland Government will fund most of the recognition of prior learning (RPL) and gap training costs.

If you or your staff are currently working or have experience in the Queensland building and construction industry, you may be eligible for subsidised training provided by Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ).

Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements

The Federal Government’s Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements program entitles eligible businesses who take on a new apprentice or trainee to a 50 per cent wage subsidy. The subsidy of up to $7,000 per quarter is available for the first 100,000 employers who register before 30 September 2021.

Make the switch in 3 steps – Choose TAFE Queensland

If you and your apprentice would like to change your supervising registered training organisation (SRTO) to TAFE Queensland, follow these simple steps:

  1. Make sure you both have a discussion and agree to the change—will you both be happy with the new arrangement?
  2. Complete the change of supervising registered training organisation (SRTO) form, and send to us: SRTONotifications@tafe.qld.edu.au.
  3. That’s it - we will lodge your paperwork with the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training (DESBT) and will be in touch to arrange your training.

TIP: Changing more than one apprentice or trainee? You need to complete sections 1 and 3 on the change of SRTO form, and submit a list of apprentices.  Here’s a template. Once completed, email both to us TQ.SRTONotifications@tafe.qld.edu.au.
