Course overview

Get a head start on your farming career with this entry-level qualification. This course will give you the skills you need to take on high-level responsibilities as a senior farm hand in livestock, cropping or mixed-enterprise. We'll give you the specific skills employers are looking for to prepare you for future innovation within the agricultural sector.

According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, the number of people working as general farm hands few very strongly over the past five years. There is stable future growth predicted in this area with around 3,000 job openings expected over the next five years. 

In this course you'll be trained in handling and transporting animals, implementing health and feeding programs, and maintaining property and structures such as fences and bores. Our highly-experienced staff are the best in the business and are available to give you advice and hands-on guidance throughout your studies.

Successful completion of this course will qualify you to work in a diverse range of settings as a farmhand in the agricultural industry. You will also have a solid foundation to continue with further study.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Transition statement

Replacement qualification
This qualification has been replaced by AHC30122 Certificate III in Agriculture, as of 23 January 2023. A transition period applies to enable current students to complete their study. The transition period finishes on 22 January 2024.
