Course overview

Develop specialised skills and knowledge to design training and assessment material for the vocational education and training industry.

As the Australian job market becomes more competitive, the number of students expected to enrol in tertiary education is projected to increase over the next five years. Changes to legislation mandating formal vocational qualifications in both the trade and technical sectors is also projected to increase student enrolments. This course will prepare you to work for and provide services to vocational education training providers including TAFE institutes and private Registered Training Organisations.

You will develop specialised skills to effectively design and evaluate training requirements, map content and assessments to training packages, undertake a training needs analysis, promote and lead innovative practices, monitor and analyse the effectiveness of training programs and provide support to trainers and assessors.

Successful completion of this course will qualify you to plan, develop, implement and analyse the effectiveness of vocational education training courses in line with learning frameworks, legislation and standards.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Selection criteria

Although there are no entry requirements for this course, it would be beneficial to hold the current Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Resources Required

You will need to have access to a reliable internet connection and a device with software that enables the you to complete complex documentation, tables and recorded video assessment requirements.

To attend classes you will be required to have a device that has both video and microphone capabilities and a reliable internet as all classes are delivered virtually.

Need to know

It is important to note that this course is not self-paced and is structured by way of weekly classes and assessment due dates.

Not all class sessions will be recorded so it is therefore essential that students have the capacity to attend all evening classes.

You may be assessed in a number of ways while you are studying at TAFE Queensland, including observation, written assessment, questioning, portfolios, work samples, third-party feedback, and through recognition of prior learning.
