Course overview

In this course you will develop specialist skills to evaluate installation parameters including, roofing, cladding, and design requirements. You will also learn how to perform cost and benefit analysis, and prepare documents to meet regulatory compliance and applicable rebates. We will also teach you how to plan and layout pipework systems, plan installation, and check components. Our industry experienced teachers will give you the support you need to succeed.

This course meets the regulatory requirements for a licensed plumber to gain an endorsement on their plumbing licence to install solar and heat pump water heating systems. It is also beneficial for specialist plumbers seeking to increase their technical skills.

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Selection criteria

You must have successfully completed Certificate III in Plumbing (or equivalent) to gain entry to this course, and must hold a current Contractors or Occupational licence.

Resources required

You are responsible for meeting the minimum occupational health and safety requirements in practical classes.
This includes the use of:

  • clear safety glasses (Australian Standard AS 1336 or 1337)
  • protective footwear with safety toe cap and non-slip soles to AS2210
  • Protective clothing
    • Classroom - neat and casual clothing
    • Practical classes - 100% cotton drill shorts and shirt (sleeveless shirts or singlets are not permitted)

If you fail to meet these minimum standards of dress, you will not be permitted entry into practical classes.
