Course overview
This course is an introduction to the Digital SLR (DSLR) camera and the related principles of photography.
If you have just acquired a DSLR camera whether as a purchase, gift or hand me down and are frustrated by it not producing the photos you want and you don’t fully understand it and want to do so, then this is the course for you. You will learn what you need to know about the camera and its settings and basic photographic principles so you can begin on your journey toward improving the photographs you take with your camera.
This is an introductory course for the beginner or anyone who has an interest in improving their basic understanding of the DSLR camera and basic photography principles. Whether you are a complete beginner with your first time DSLR, want to improve your travel and holiday photography, improve the photos of your children or family at play, learn how to take a landscape photo, or you are exploring the possibility of a career in photography for the future, then it all begins here and this course is for you.
Please note: During this course there will be up to four lessons scheduled off-campus on weekends including a sunrise and sunset class, locations are on the Gold Coast. These shoots substitute on-campus time and are weather permitting. This will be discussed in your first class to give students plenty of notice.
You will learn understand the basics of your camera and its makeup, modes, dials, care and handling. You will learn how to become more in control of your camera and its settings to enable your photography to improve. We will explore the shutter speed, aperture and ISO settings and how these relate to you taking better photos. If you are frustrated by your camera and want to gain more knowledge, understanding and the ability use your camera to take better photos, then this is the course for you.
This short course is non-accredited therefore is not registered with the National Training Register.
