Build your skills and confidence with Microsoft Word! This beginners’ workshop will enhance your professional skill set. An excellent investment for organisations building staff capability, and a wise choice for job seekers and/or those seeking career advancement. 

This course is for those who have never had formal training on how to use Microsoft Office products and need to understand the core functions of Word.

Topics include:

  • Get started in Word 2016 by exploring the toolbar and ribbon
  • Navigate, select and enter text
  • Use the spelling and grammar check tools
  • Use basic font formatting techniques
  • Use basic paragraph formatting techniques
  • Create bulleted and numbered lists
  • Insert pictures
  • Print a document

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Selection criteria

You will need:

  • to have basic computing knowledge;
  • sound literacy and numeracy skills;
  • to have completed Year 10 or are 16 years of age or older.

Resources required

You will require personal stationery (pen and paper), a USB and a valid email address.

This course is based on Windows and Microsoft Office software. This software is available for you to use on TAFE Queensland campuses. You may wish to bring your own laptops. If you have a later version of Microsoft Office you will need to make adjustments for any differences.  If you elect to use Apple software, you will need to accommodate for the inherent differences between the operation and tasks of this software and Microsoft, this is not covered in this workshop.

Important information

Course commencement is subject to minimum enrolment numbers. TAFE Queensland can also offer this course to business/corporate clients in the workplace or at TAFE if required (subject to minimum numbers). Please enquire to discuss how we can assist your organisation.

Robina Campus 

  • We recommend using public transport or
  • If you are driving, BEFORE you arrive, please download the EasyPark App, set up your account and in the Search bar at top of the screen, type ‘Tafe’ and select the appropriate parking area to set as your location – something similar to this will appear- Care Park Australia street parking, private, 1 day duration.
  • We highly recommend you download the app and enter the details prior to arriving as there may be no signal in the basement. If you have any issues reach out to security on campus located on the ground floor near the lifts.
  • Parking can be accessed via Paddington Place. ONLY park in the spaces marked with the Red TAFE Queensland logo on the ground on either B1 or B2 to avoid being fined by Easy Park. 
    Please be aware that parking spaces can fill early.

Please note: The Seedpod Cafe on site at our Robina Campus is not open for business on the weekend or in the evenings so you are advised to bring your own refreshments.
The Green Fields bar & restaurant is on site- Level 4 Rooftop of our Robina Campus, for opening hours please see Green Fields information.
