Course overview

This skill set is designed for workers in accounting and bookkeeping roles who want to formalise or enhance their existing skills. This course is also a prerequisite for the Diploma of Accounting (FNS50217).

In this course you will develop essential accounting skills including how to set up and operate computerised accounting systems, prepare financial reports, process financial transactions, extract interim reports, and administer subsidiary accounts and ledgers. You'll also develop practical skills including establishing and maintaining payroll systems, and completing business activity statements (BAS) and instalment activity statements.

Successful completion of this skill set is an entry requirement of the Diploma of Accounting (FNS50217). It will also equip you with a range of industry-relevant skills for entry-level accounting roles across a range of industries.

To enrol into the accelerated mode of study students must have 5 years’ finance experience.
