Get hands on and explore a career in the construction industry through an immersive, practical program focused on real trade experience. You will gain exposure to carpentry, cabinet making, and plumbing, working in industry style workshops. Learn how each trade functions and gain experience from Industry experts to enable you to select your chosen path in the Construction industry. You will build practical skills, gain confidence using tools and equipment, and experience what it’s like to work in different trade environments - all under the guidance of experienced TAFE Queensland educators. You will also benefit from industry engagement opportunities, helping to connect training with real-world pathways.

Resources required

You are responsible for meeting the minimum occupational health and safety requirements in practical classes.
This includes the use of:

  • safety glasses
  • protective footwear with safety toe cap and non-slip soles to AS2210
  • You should also wear 100% cotton drill industry-standard clothing (no singlets)

If you fail to meet these minimum standards of dress, you will not be permitted entry into practical classes.

Upon enrolment you will need to select one unit to complete alongside this course:

  • Communication - CPCCOM1014 Conduct workplace communication
    or

  • General Construction Induction (White Card)  - CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry
