A one-day practical short course that equips licensed venue security personnel with the essential communication, conflict management, patron safety, compliance and incident response skills needed to work confidently and professionally in licensed establishments.

The Licensed Establishment Security Essentials short course is designed to build the practical skills and confidence of security personnel working in licensed venues such as hotels, clubs, casinos, entertainment venues and events.
The course focuses on the key responsibilities of security officers in managing patron behaviour, supporting venue safety, responding to incidents and meeting legal and operational requirements within licensed environments.
You will develop practical skills in communication, conflict de-escalation, managing intoxicated patrons, crowd control, emergency response and incident reporting. Through scenario-based learning, the course contextualises these outcomes to real workplace situations, helping you to apply safe, professional and compliant security practices in busy licensed establishments.

You should have basic communication skills and an interest in developing their knowledge of safe and professional security practices in licensed establishments.
You are not required to bring any specialist equipment to this course. All learning materials will be provided.
You should wear comfortable, workplace-appropriate clothing and enclosed footwear, as the course includes practical scenario-based activities.
