Course overview

Course overview

Complete this apprenticeship course with TAFE Queensland to become a trade qualified stonemason. According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, bricklayers and stonemasons are a skill in demand with employers finding it hard to fill vacancies. This large occupation is expected to create around 13,000 job openings over the next five years.

In this course you will learn to work with marble, granite, and other types of stone and stone products to produce building components. You will use computer numerical control (CNC) machinery and other stonemasonry tools and equipment to cut and shape stone slabs for a range of purposes including kitchen bench tops, fireplaces, decorative mouldings, stairs or tombstones and memorials. Your training plan will align with your workplace requirements with specialisations in fabrication, installation or monumental stonemasonry.

Successful completion of this course as part of your apprenticeship will allow you to be recognised as a trade qualified stonemason and continue to progress your career in the construction industry.
