Course overview

Course overview

Develop strong leadership skills to uphold the ethical, legislative and compliance requirements of the public sector, which are critical to enter into a supervisory role within the public sector. As of June 2016, there were over 1.2 million people employed in the public sector across federal, state and local governments. Job openings for specialist managers are projected to be high over the next five years, with an estimation that over 50,000 job openings will be available across Australia by the end of 2019.

During this course designed for existing public servants, you will develop advanced leadership skills to manage performance, conflict resolution, communications and resources. You will augment your knowledge in respect to public sector values and will learn to conduct research and analysis, and implement risk management procedures and policies. Select from a range of specialisation elective unit streams including injury management, workplace inspection, policy development or general public service. Our team at TAFE Queensland will work with you to determine which units best align with your desired employment outcome.

Successful completion of this course will qualify you to work within the public services sectors in a supervisory position such as an administrative services manager, policy manager, injury management, case manager or customer service manager.
