Get an introduction to the art and craft of acting and performance with this entry-level course. This qualification will prepare you for community theatre and further studies in the performing arts.
This course will provide you with a sound base from which to develop your performance interests or pursue further training in the arts. You will receive energetic, detailed and focused training in acting, body, and voice skills, and the opportunity to engage in a public performance project. You'll also have the opportunity to explore the business of starting an acting and performance career in Australia.
Successful completion of this course will qualify you to work as a performer in community theatre. You'll also have the foundation skills required to continue with further studies in acting and performance.
As an acting student at TAFE Queensland you'll study with industry experts in a distinctive and lively learning and training environment. Students will be part of a thriving educational and creative community that culminates in a public performance project at the end of your studies.
Acting students have access to a range of specialised facilities, allowing you to develop your craft and hone your skills in a professional environment. Our fully-equipped black box theatre and breakout and rehearsal rooms are all fitted out with lighting and AV equipment, ensuring a seamless transition from the classroom to the stage.

You must be a Year 10, 11 or 12 student enrolled at a participating high school. In addition, the duration of your TAFE at School course cannot be longer than your remaining high school studies. Speak to your high school guidance counsellor or careers advisor for more information.

TAFE at School
Years 10-12 Senior Secondary School enrolments.
The program is tailored for those students who have some experience in drama and acting.
Training attire / journal books
It is recommended that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player. This equipment and software is available for use at all TAFE Queensland locations.
You will be provided with a recommended reading list and/or required textbooks during orientation or at the start of each unit. The purchase of these resources may incur additional costs, or you may be able to borrow them from the TAFE Queensland library network.
Attendance at all classes is a requirement to successfully complete this program.
