Develop the essential, entry-level skills you need to work in health support. This skill set will prepare you to get started in the growing healthcare industry.
In this introductory course you'll learn how to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues, participate in safe work practices, and work respectfully with people from diverse social and cultural groups and situations, including Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people. You'll also discover how to follow organisational infection prevention and control procedures, including implementing standard and transmission-based precautions and responding to infection risks.
Successful completion of this skill set will prepare you to seek work in a range of health support, community services, and direct client care contexts.

You will be able to access your learning materials from the first day of the study period. You must be enrolled to be able to access your learning materials. You will be expected to undertake additional self-directed study in order to complete the course requirements.
If you want to go on to further study at university, TAFE Queensland has a pathway option to get you there. In many cases, completing one of our diplomas may give you a full year of credit towards a degree with one of our partner universities.

Students will also be required to complete a minimum of one day in industry and have a third party report completed in order to meet the workplace assessment requirements
It is recommended that you have access to a reliable internet connection to access TAFE Queensland's online learning system Connect, and a computer with up-to-date software, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash Player.
You must wear neat comfortable clothing with enclosed shoes for the practical sessions.
During this course you will be required to complete two 3 hour practical face-to-face workshop. Workshops will be scheduled in the TAFE Queensland region closest to you.
You will also be required to complete a minimum of one day in industry where you will be required to complete a third party report completed in order to meet the workplace assessment requirements.
This program will require on average 4 hours per week of self-directed learning to meet the study and assessment requirements.
