Study acting and performance

Develop the practical skills and experience required to work in the performing arts as a stage and film actor, performing artist, performance maker, or arts facilitator. According to the Australian Government's Job Outlook service, the number of people working as actors and other entertainers has grown very strongly over the past five years and is expected to continue to grow in the future. There's likely to be around 6,000 job openings in this industry over the next five years with employers looking for people who are reliable, have strong people skills, and can communicate well with diverse audiences.

You'll benefit from our extended community of practice which includes ongoing relationships with schools, industry and student alumni. These partnerships will broaden your knowledge of the performing arts industry and prepare you for the employment and career opportunities within it. Acting students will also have regular opportunities to demonstrate your performance skills and abilities in our live performance and production events.

Our teaching staff are internationally recognised within the arts sector as performing artists in their own right. Working across theatre, opera, dance, new media, contemporary performance practice, playwriting, film-making and music our teachers bring with them a wealth of experience and knowledge.

TAFE Queensland's comprehensive acting and performance courses will give you a solid grounding in acting, body and voice techniques, performance making skills, production theatre, entrepreneurial skills, community engagement, and performance theory.
