Aviation Australia

TAFE Queensland has joined forces with Aviation Australia to deliver a range of aviation and aerospace courses throughout Queensland. Leveraging both organisations' collective size and expertise the partnership aims to establish Queensland as a major aviation hub by delivering specialist aviation training and strong educational pathways and outcomes for students.

Our partners

The highly experienced staff at National Aviation Academy have a wealth of knowledge and experience to provide students with high quality technical and practical training. On the doorstep of the Townsville International Airport, operating within both controlled and non-controlled airspace, students learn on-site in a self-contained hangar with direct access to the tarmac. Taking off for aeroplane flight training couldn’t be easier.

Operating from the Townsville International Airport in tropical North Queensland, students can learn to fly a helicopter utilising a variety of micro training areas including mountains, valleys, coastlines and open water.

With excellent weather conditions most of the year and training in a less congested airport, students can learn to fly a helicopter with less interruptions, making it easier to achieve the required flight hours for their training.

Brisbane students complete their training with Airwork Aviation at the Caboolture Airfield, just a 40 minute drive north of the Brisbane CBD and close to Archerfield, Sunshine Coast and Amberley airspace. The airfield is located outside of controlled airspace, allowing you to spend more time flying and less time waiting for air traffic control.

The Airways Aviation Gold Coast Pilot Training Academy is an outstanding facility located on the idyllic southern Queensland coast at Coolangatta, around an hour south of Brisbane. Located in the airport precinct.

Now South Australians have the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised TAFE Queensland qualification locally in Adelaide. Students will train at Aerostar Aviation’s base, located at Hangar 8 Parafield Airport, just half an hour north of Adelaide CBD. This is an ideal training location, as it allows pilots to fly in controlled airspace with student-friendly air traffic controllers.

Helistar Aviation is a CASA (Civil Aviation Safety Authority) approved training organisation that provides a high standard of helicopter flight training. Students will train at Parafield Airport, Adelaide, which is an ideal training location, as it allows pilots to fly in controlled airspace with student-friendly air traffic controllers.

CBT Systems is a dedicated theory training provider for the aviation industry. The Aeroscience Aviation Theory course is an online short course specially designed around the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) examination syllabus for each pilot licence subject. Students can study subjects including aerodynamics, meteorology, aircraft general knowledge, human factors, in fact, everything you would need to get a head start in an aviation tertiary-level course or to gain a Private Pilot Licence (RRPL) with CASA.
