TAFE Queensland has partnered with Greencross Vets to give you the opportunity to experience hands-on training, in a real world environment
TAFE Queensland has partnered with Greencross Vets to deliver the ACM40418 Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing to students at various veterinary clinics across Australia. This course is delivered on-site at selected Greencross Vets clinics allowing you to experience hands-on training in real-world facilities.
Put theory into practice
Theoretical concepts of the ACM40418 Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing will be taught via virtual classroom modality and practical learning will occur at a Greencross Vets clinic, enabling you to put what you've learnt in the classroom into practice. You'll graduate with confidence and familiarity within the veterinary industry, ready to transition seamlessly into potential full-time employment.

Students will be provided with a fully interactive learning experience, with a mix of online self-directed learning and clinical practice experience to be completed at the various allocated Greencross Vets clinics. Students may be required to attend campus or a clinic for an assessment day and this will be discussed with your teacher and/or workplace supervisor.
1 day per week in a TAFE Queensland virtual classroom (Tuesday's). Virtual class is online or students can attend any TAFE Queensland campus and use the computers. The teacher will be delivering face to face at Ashmore campus and also streaming.
1 day per week flexible study to suit your schedule – any day.
2 days per week in an allocated Greencross Vets clinic – this is determined by Greencross Vets. Once you have been accepted in the program the clinic and student will arrange these two days. The days can be discussed at the interview stage.
Intake dates: January, April, July, October
To be eligible for the Career Boost Subsidy, you must meet the following criteria:
- be a Queensland resident
- be aged 15 years or over, and no longer at school
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or Australian permanent resident (including humanitarian entrants), or a temporary resident with the necessary visa and work permits on the pathway to permanent residency
- not hold, or be enrolled in, a certificate IV level or higher qualification (not including qualifications completed at school and foundation skills training).
As part of your application, you will be asked for evidence of the above.

Applications are a two-step process – Submit your application and Interview with Greencross Veterinary clinic (by invitation only)

- If your application reaches the interview stage a Greencross representative will be in direct contact with you to arrange an interview

Greencross Partnership Eligibility Criteria:
- be a permanent resident of Australia
- be prepared to participate in allocated vocational placement
- have access to the internet and have an email account
- possess good interpersonal skills and function effectively in a team
- students must be 18 years of age at course start date to be able to participate in clinic including anaesthesia, drug handling and X-rays; and
- hold a Certificate II in an animal science discipline or
- hold a relevant Certificate III or higher level qualification in an animal science discipline or
- can demonstrate equivalent skills and knowledge in a relevant animal science discipline to either of the above listed qualifications standards.
