Employment

To study and complete a certificate may be a requirement for your job. For example, to become an early childhood education and care worker you will need a certificate III. To work as a personal trainer you need a certificate IV.

Make sure you find out what qualification you need. Try talking to people who work in the field or checking with relevant industry groups. The Australian Government also has a great resource called myskills. You can search by job to find recommended courses and pathways.

Certificates can also boost your employment opportunities. They can make you stand out above someone with fewer or no qualifications. They also show employers you are interested in and committed to their industry.

Studying a certificate is also a great way to get ready for further study. You can often get credit from completed certificates towards a diploma. And a diploma can give you a pathway to university.

At TAFE Queensland there are a range of concessions, loans, and scholarships you may be eligible for to assist you with the cost of your study.

Many certificate courses are eligible for subsidies. These include the Certificate 3 Guarantee and Free TAFE for Year 12 graduates.
