New program opens to support Indigenous business owners

Funded by the Queensland Government and delivered by TAFE Queensland, the program is set to commence on Monday 28 September, 2020 and offers Indigenous business owners and entrepreneurs access to cutting-edge training and mentoring programs designed to provide them with access to the skills and networking opportunities required to build a robust and successful business.

The program not only aims to help innovators bring their ideas to life and assist entrepreneurs to add commercial value to their concepts, but will also help existing businesses to assess their current position and support them in implementing and maintaining effective and sustainable business continuity plans as they navigate their way through this unprecedented pandemic period.

TAFE Queensland Chief Executive Officer Mary Campbell said the program will help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses enhance their resilience and explore opportunities for growth, even in times of economic uncertainty.

“Innovation in all levels of business has never been more important as people around the world adapt to the changes, challenges and opportunities brought about by COVID-19,” Mrs Campbell said.

“Building on the Creating Tracks program that supported 160 Indigenous businesses during the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, the program will provide valuable support to businesses through training, mentoring and networking opportunities.

“Delivered in three parts, the program will provide online and face-to-face training, specialist workshops and facilitate networking opportunities for Indigenous businesses to grow and find new opportunities for success,” she said.

Registrations are now open online and are open to Indigenous businesses, innovators or entrepreneurs across all industries.
