Empowering Dreams and Transforming Lives

Have you ever had a lifelong dream that seemed elusive due to life's circumstances?

Have you ever had a lifelong dream that seemed elusive due to life's circumstances? Meet Cassie Woodberry, an extraordinary individual whose unwavering determination led her to pursue her dream of completing a Diploma of Nursing (HLT54121) with TAFE Queensland.

When asked about her motivation to pursue a nursing diploma, Cassie shared she had always aspired to become a nurse, but life's responsibilities continuously stood in her way. Raising her children, working long hours, and uncertainties about balancing study commitments held her back.

“As a mature-aged student, I was nervous but excited for the challenges ahead. Once my children were all in full-time school, I knew it was time to do something for myself. Going back to study turned out to be exactly what I didn't know I needed,” Cassie said.

Cassie explained that TAFE Queensland felt like the perfect fit for her nursing journey due to the availability of campus locations and flexible learning opportunities.

“TAFE Queensland has been such a positive experience for me, the teachers have been truly amazing and the support they offered during my studies felt genuine,” she said.

“The staff enjoy seeing you achieve milestones and they celebrate that with you with which is an amazing experience.”

During Cassie’s diploma studies she said she has learnt so much not just about nursing but about herself and what she is capable of. She was worried about her age, and whether she could use a computer to study and the processes involved with finding learning resources online, but she navigated it all.

“I cannot begin to describe how great, supportive and understanding the teachers are at TAFE Queensland.”

“The teachers love seeing your success, and you are not ever just a number, you are a person and everything feels tailored to you personally.”

“This has truly been a life changing experience for me.”

Cassie said her career to date has been spent in the finance sector but she was never passionate about that career path, she’s always wanted to help people and this diploma will allow her to do just that.

“Learning to care for others, wipe away tears and help to ease the pain, these are all transferable skills and I cannot wait to spread my caring nature throughout hospitals in Australia.”
