Fareed Takes the Cutting Edge through SEE

TAFE Queensland's Skills for Education & Employment (SEE) program is helping job seekers like Fareed Hussein achieve their career goals.

Fareed first joined the SEE program as a youth student at TAFE Queensland's Toowoomba campus, and soon engaged in a Certificate II in Salon Assistant through the course.

After completing his qualification, Fareed's teachers organised a workplace chat with local barber chain, Bou’s for Men.

The staff at Bou’s for Men were immediately impressed with Fareed’s attitude and aptitude, noting that his skills from the Salon Assistant course allowed him to hit the ground running. The acting manager at the Clifford Gardens branch saw great potential in Fareed, who was well presented and enthusiastic, and offered him a full-time barbering apprenticeship.

Fareed is now working across three branches of Bou’s for Men in Toowoomba and will undertake the training component of his apprenticeship in the Certificate III in Barbering program through TAFE Queensland. The skills and knowledge Fareed gained through the SEE program have already paid off, and he is well on his way to a successful career in the barbering industry.

The success story of Fareed Hussein is a testament to the impact the SEE program and TAFE Queensland can have on students' lives. By providing students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their chosen careers, TAFE Queensland is helping to shape the future of job seekers across the state.

The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program is funded by the Australian Government Department of Employment and Workplace Relations.
