Robina campus Highly Commended at Green Gown awards

TAFE Queensland's Robina campus on the Gold Coast has been recognised by the Green Gown Awards Australasia 2023, with a Highly Commended in the Next Generation Learning and Skills category.

This award recognises outstanding contributions to sustainability within the education sector and underlines the campus's unwavering commitment to environmental and social responsibility.

Upon receiving Highly Commended, TAFE Queensland Gold Coast General Manager, Karen Dickinson expressed her gratitude and highlighted the importance of this recognition.

"It’s an honour to be recognised globally as a leader driving positive change and fostering a sustainable future for all. This achievement motivates us to continue pushing the boundaries and finding innovative ways to reduce our carbon footprint and promote eco-friendly practices within the education sector," said Ms Dickinson.

“It underscores our commitment to a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future, setting an inspiring example for educational institutions across the country and around the world.”

Ms Dickinson thanked the Robina campus staff and said the Highly Commended placement is a recognition of everyone’s tireless efforts to shape a brighter, greener future for students and the planet.

The 2023 Australasian Green Gown Awards recognised 12 universities and 1 TAFE; celebrating 11 winners and 8 highly commended across 10 different award categories. TAFE Queensland's Robina campus emerged as a standout being the only TAFE among the finalists.

TAFE Queensland faced competition from top universities across the nation, including fellow Queensland institution QUT who took out the win for their Masters of Sustainable Energy program for the second year running.

The Robina campus stands as an example of TAFE Queensland's commitment to sustainability, with a strong foundation based on the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Sustainability principles have been seamlessly woven into every aspect of the campus, resulting in flexible spaces and cutting-edge facilities that are empowered by state-of-the-art technology.

The campus has pioneered innovative service delivery models, established on-site live training facilities, and, most importantly, instilled a profound sense of responsibility in its students, encouraging them to become active global citizens.

Purpose built in 2022, the Robina campus has been acknowledged for its exceptional dedication to integrating sustainability principles into every facet of student life, daily operations, and the curriculum.
