TAFE Queensland shortlisted for Green Gown Award

TAFE Queensland is a finalist in the prestigious Green Gown Awards Australasia 2023 for its flagship campus in Robina on the Gold Coast which was purpose built with a commitment to social and environmental sustainability.

The Green Gown Awards, known for celebrating excellence in sustainability within the education sector, witnessed an unprecedented surge in submissions this year, highlighting the growing commitment toward addressing pressing environmental and social challenges.

TAFE Queensland’s Robina campus stands tall as one of five finalists in the Next Generation Learning and Skills category which recognises achievement in the development of academic courses, skills and capabilities relevant to sustainability.

Newly opened in 2022, the Robina campus has been recognised for its unwavering dedication to embedding sustainability principles into every facet of student life, operations, and curriculum.

Karen Dickinson, General Manager of TAFE Queensland Gold Coast said being a finalist is a testament to the organisations determination to drive meaningful change and fostering a sustainable future.

"This recognition serves as motivation for us to continue pushing the boundaries and finding new ways to reduce our carbon footprint and promote eco-friendly practices, particularly in the education sector,” she said.

Facing off against some of the nation's top universities including fellow Queenslanders – QUT and UQ, TAFE Queensland is determined to leave an indelible mark on the sustainability landscape of vocational training in Australia.

The Robina Campus is an example of TAFE Queensland's commitment to sustainability, with a strong foundation based on the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The campus has pioneered transformative service delivery models, established onsite live training facilities, and most importantly, instilled a sense of responsibility in its students, encouraging them to become active global citizens.

The Green Gown Awards ceremony will take place on November 2 and all eyes will be on TAFE Queensland’s Robina Campus, as it vies for being recognised as one of Australia's most sustainable educational institutes.
