Graphic Design graduates win at 2025 DIA Graduate Awards
From sleek digital interfaces to compelling visual storytelling, two TAFE Queensland graphic design graduates are making waves on the national stage - taking out top honours at the 2025 Design Institute of Australia (DIA) Graduate of the Year Awards (GOTYA).
Diploma of Graphic Design (CUA50720) graduates, Jakob Pelusi and Molly Eaton, were named Queensland state winners in their respective Vocational categories - Interact and Convey -recognising their exceptional creative talent and job-ready skills.
Jakob took out the top prize in the Interact category, which celebrates designers who create seamless digital experiences that connect people with technology.
From mobile apps to augmented reality, the category focuses on intuitive interface design and service journeys.
Jakob’s portfolio stood out for its user-focused approach and technical precision, earning him recognition among some of the country’s best emerging digital designers.

In the Convey category, Molly Eaton was recognised for her bold and engaging visual communication work.
This category highlights designers who excel in using imagery and design elements to inform, persuade, and inspire - spanning everything from brand identity and editorial design to packaging and campaigns.
Molly’s work demonstrated a strong command of visual storytelling and audience engagement, positioning her as one to watch in the graphic design industry.
The DIA’s GOTYA program is Australia’s premier platform for emerging designers.
Open to registered tertiary institutions, the awards recognise excellence in design across four national categories - Place, Use, Interact, and Convey - at both Higher Education and Vocational levels.
Finalists are assessed through a rigorous, anonymous judging process that examines design excellence, conceptual development, and readiness for industry.
Winners receive valuable exposure, mentorship, and the opportunity to connect with top names in the design world.

Matt Blair, Educational Team Leader at TAFE Queensland, said the achievements of Jakob and Molly reflect the strength of TAFE Queensland’s industry-focused approach.
“Our programs give students the practical job-ready skills, real-world experience, and creative freedom to explore their design identity,” Matt said.
“We’re incredibly proud of Jakob and Molly – they’ve shown what’s possible when creativity is matched with hard work and supported by an environment that nurtures talent.”
As they move into the next stage of their creative careers, both Jakob and Molly carry with them not just national accolades, but the confidence and capabilities to make a lasting impact on the Australian design industry.
