TAFE Queensland celebrated the opening of its groundbreaking Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing Centre (RAMC), where vital emerging industries training will take place for years to come - with students training in the facility from 14 July 2025.
The Robotics and Advanced Manufacturing Centre (RAMC) features specialised robotics, hydrogen, renewable energy and electrotechnology workshops, digital labs, learning areas, and staff and student amenities.
Manufacturing currently contributes $20 billion annually to the Queensland economy and is currently the third-largest employer of full-time workers – expected to grow to 182,000 by 2025-26.
TAFE Queensland's class-leading training in advanced manufacturing is developed through constant engagement with industry leaders and thorough assessment of future industry needs and trends.
TAFE Queensland - SkillsTech General Manager Stephen Gates spoke at the Official Opening of the breadth of training to be delivered in this remarkable facility and the impact this will have on the local workforce.
"With dedicated areas for training in everything from TAFE at Schools through to advanced, post-trade upskilling, this facility will broaden TAFE Queensland’s contribution to a new generation of workers," Mr Gates said.
"With this new facility and the new courses it brings on offer at this campus, we are projecting for enrolment numbers to grow and for the most popular courses to shift focus towards emerging industries."
"This new facility will enhance the training availability in North Brisbane for crucial trade areas, while also supporting training into emerging industries including robotics and advanced manufacturing," he said.
New courses on offer in this facility include the Certificate II in Autonomous Technologies (10935NAT) and Diploma of Applied Technologies (MEM50822).
With more than 3,600 students completing training on the Eagle Farm campus in FY 2024-25, the new facility will further boost training availability in North Brisbane, particularly in crucial trades such as electrical.
Students will commence training in the RAMC from Semester 2 (14 July) 2025 in new and existing courses.
This Centre represents the largest single project funded under the Equipping TAFE for our Future initiative, which is delivering new and refurbished TAFE training infrastructure across Queensland.
